So even though we have only been in college for two weeks now, we miss our families. Soooooo... I found us a ride home for the weekend!! We stayed up Thursday night watching "Project Runway" until like 2:00 in the morning and then we had to pack. haha We had to take our bags to Bonnie's appartment at 9:00 on Friday and we hadn't even started packing until then.
Megan had an 8:00 AM class, so after a long night and a long day full of classes she passed out.
We met the other three girls we rode with Thursday morning when we took our bags. haha Bonnie (the driver) was roommates with my roommate's friend last year. Darcee, one of my roommates (the one who knew Bonnie), mentioned that Bonnie would be driving home to Brigham City for the weekend, so I got to work. I texted her and told her who I was and that I was interested in riding home for the weekend if she had two extra seats and she got way excited. She charged everyone $25 for gas, and the five of us got to come home. :) She seems like a REALLY nice girl and she's pretty funny too. The three of them were joking that last year when they came to college they said they were going to make friends and then they never really did because they would rather just watch "Project Runnway" in their apartment all night. hahaha I laughed and told them we can most definitely be friends and we'll just all watch it together! I hope we continue to be friends after this :)
We stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere and they randomly had a petting zoo! haha So of course we had to stop and pet the animals.
Funny rules :)
Poor baby zebra, all by himself :(
One of the goats got ahold of Megan's hair when she bent over haha I had to rescue it out of its mouth! YUCK.
CUTEST baby llama!! (Is that how you spell it??? That means "name" in Spanish! haha)
I got dropped off at the McDonald's right off the Provo exit and I just sat outside enjoying the beautiful weather and my music while I waited for Drew and James to come pick me up. We had a date planned :)
Me, Drew, Kyrsti, and James all drove around Salt Lake City looking for a place to eat and finally agreed that Wendey's was good because it was cheap and we're all starving college students. haha I have really missed being able to just TALK like that to people! They were probably so sick of me because I don't think I ever shut up!! haha I have missed all of them A LOT and a lot more than I even knew! haha They are such great friends. I hope we are friends forever.
Even though me and Kyrst weren't the best of friends through high school when we kind of went our separate ways, I love the girl to death and we have always been best friends deep down! So after dinner, we drove to Ensign Peak to do a little hike. It was TONS of fun and SO beautiful as we watched the sun setting. Kyrst was funny with making me and Drew take pictures together and sometimes it was really awkward haha but we still had fun and got some cute pictures.
The boys being macho men :) haha
What a BEAUTIFUL place to live. We are so blessed to have all of this right at our fingertips!
Goofy goofy!
This is Ensign Peak where Brigham Young said, "This is the place" when they first arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. I am so grateful for all of those incredible people who dropped practically everything they had to follow their faith and embark on that excruciating journey across the plains. I admire their courage and strength. I would never say my trials are as hard as that was for them, but I feel like I am on a Trek of my own. I left my car, friends, family, and home to follow what I felt was right. There have been tears, trials, struggles, and pain... but I know I am supposed to be at Dixie and I am pressing forward with unwavering faith. To some that probably seems like I'm making a simple situation very dramatic, but we all have our own struggles. I am enjoying myself and I am very happy in my life right now, but I also am overcoming many fears and taking on a whole new life. I look at my pioneer ancestors as incredible role models. If they could do it, then so can I!
The sunset was breath-taking. One of my favorite things to do is watch the sun go down and to see all of the beautiful colors it creates. My camera doesn't do this one justice, but I think they turned out beautiful :)
Haha This was one of those awkward moments where Kyrsti was telling us what to do and we were just doing it to make her happy haha I don't mind being close to him though ;)
The wind kept blowing my hair all over and in my face while we were taking pictures! So we finally just gave up and let it be there. So we're laughing about it in this picture.
Drew is such a great guy. I have been very blessed to get to spend time with him and to get to know him better. He has ten kids in his family and he has incredible parents. In high school, when somebody needed someone to talk to, they would always go to Drew because he cares so much about other people and drops whatever he has to worry about so that he can help. He loves the Lord and will be turning in his mission papers in only a couple of weeks so that he can dedicate two years of his life to serve Him wherever he is called. Any young man who is willing to do that impresses me! I was only gone for a month and I really don't think I would be able to do what they do. I say congratulations for having the courage to make a difference in the world despite yourself. I am faithful to the church and Drew has helped strengthen my testimony and faith immensely the past little while; I can't imagine the effect he will be able to have on people who don't have that foundation to go off of. :)
haha what goof balls haha
We went to Arctic Circle after the hike and got shakes. We messed with an App. on Drew's phone for quite a while and just laughed hysterically! We had so much fun just hanging out with all of us. :)
We ended with Temple Square. What a fun night!! :) I would totally make a trip to Provo to get to do that again! haha I am so blessed to get to associate with such incredible people :)
