I have a Human Development class and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Yesterday, we got to do a "College Friend Day" with the preschool. I have three little girls in my group who are 4-years-old and my group in the class had to plan 50 minutes worth of activities with the little girls. It was so great and they were SO cute!!!
I was SO excited because I had made these stinkin cute cupcakes for my group!! :) When I was finished frosting... I remembered the day we met our preschoolers, their teacher told us that Lilly is allergic to glucose. CRAPPY!! Needless to say, my roommates very much enjoyed these delicious cupcakes!!
Above is Lilly, below is Chloe. Chloe and Olivia are twins and they are SO cute together!! Olivia is my very most favorite and they aren't my kinds so I'm allowed to have a favorite. haha Olivia just talks like crazy and sometimes I have NO idea what she's saying but she's just so stinkin cute that it doesn't even matter! :) She tells you exactly what she's thinking and feeling and she is so much fun to spend 50 minutes with! When Jaz (a girl from my class) sat down at the table across from Olivia, Olivia said, "OH! I remember YOU!!" And then she pointed to Hiro (The Japanese girl from my class) and said, "Oh... You're.... the.... DIFFERENT one...." It was amazing to me what little four-year-olds notice. We colored crowns for our first activity in our Princess Party. Olivia colored little spots all over her crown, but nothing big. They were just little scribbles here and there. She used lots of different colors and said that RED is her favorite. She wore the crown for most of the day even though it kept falling off or sliding over her eyebrows. SHE felt like a little princess. :) SO CUTE!!
The reason I am writing so much about Olivia is because at the end of the semester, we have to write a case study about one of our preschoolers and I am going to write mine about her. So my blog is where I'm keeping some of my notes about her.
These are the twins, Olivia (Brown hair) and Chloe (Blonde hair).
Olivia is FULL of smiles!! She was the "captain" today in preschool so her mom was there and she was on top of the world!! They have a chair in the front ofthe classroom that the captain sits on when everyone goes to the rug and all she wanted to do was sit on it! It was pretty funny.
Lilly is the quiet/opinionated one of the crew
When Olivia was done coloring, she wanted everyone to be done and she was ready to go to the next activity and she did NOT want to wait for anything haha "Mommy I'm done." "Well you'll just have to wait until everyone is done honey." "But I'M done!!" haha
This is the "Poison Apple" game that I found online. We all sat in a circle and I had my laptop playing Disney music while we passed a "poisoned" apple around the circle. When the music stopped, if you had the apple in your hand, you had to fall asleep like Snowwhite. Olivia thought this was the greates thing ever!! She had a HUGE smile the entire time and she kept thinking she was the one who was supposed to fall asleep even though she didn't have the apple. I was in charge of the music so I decided who got out each time and I let Lilly win because she is the type who would be upset to lose and Olivia thought it was great to get out because you got to pretend to fall asleep! haha SO CUTE!!
I've decided that when I walk around campus with an adorable little girl in my arms with crowns on our heads, guys like to talk to me haha and some very attractive guys too that would never come up to talk to me otherwise!! hahaha ok so only one actually TALKED to us... but lots looked and smiled and that was good enough hahaha Everybody thinks it's cute when little girls get to feel like princesses for a day :)
Olivia walks really slowly and just talks and talks and talks the whole time she's walking. She seems to get enjoyment out of the little things :)
We went to the fountain in the middle of campus where we were going to play "Pop the Pumpkin", but the little girls did NOT want to pop the balloons because to little kids, that's SCARY. So we just held the balloons and went on to our next activity, "Sidewalk Masterpieces". They had fun with this, but it started to get nice and toasty being in the sun! The other two girls drew people with big circles for eyes and long, spider-like fingers and toes. Olivia only drew scribbles again. Her artistic abilities aren't quite as developed as the other two girls, but she still enjoys it and wanted to color ALL OVER.
Our last activity, the girls were really tired and hot and just wanted to go back to the preschool. We talked them into helping us make toilet paper dresses first though. Haha Olivia couldn't quite understand how to make the toilet paper come off while she went around me without it ripping. I tried to teach her to just put her fingers in the holes and each and and let it come out that way, but then she held onto it with her thumbs so she would take one step and it would break. She let Jaz make a top on her, and then they were done so we let her rip it off and she liked that.
Lilly did pretty well giving Hiro a skirt :)
She just has such an energetic and loving personality!!
We went back to the preschool and Olivia had me carry her the whole way. My arm was pretty tired because I had tons of stuff in my arms AND Olivia haha But I didn't mind. She is so sweet.
I LOVE this class!!! Maybe I should do preschool instead of Elementary.... :) Who knows. I'll get my Associates and then decide. I just know for now that I absolutely LOVE learning about kids and why they are the way they are and why they do certain things. I love watching them and noticing their different abilities and personalities. I'm so grateful for the chance I have to be in this class! :)
