After staying up until 2:00 AM and then waking up the next morning at 5:30 AM, I was in for an adventure. My mom took me to my Aunt Janae's house around 8:00 because she had to work so my Aunt would be taking me to the airport. Janae saved my butt!! She repacked my carryon into a WAY smaller bag and everything still fit! When we got to the airport, she checked Johanna's bag for free even though it should have cost us $75 for being 4 pounds too heavy. She also took me through security, bought me a passport holder, AND walked me all the way almost onto the plane! I was stressing before because it is my first time out of the country and having to do connecting flights and everything, but Janae was an absolute life saver!!
When I was switching flights in the Amsterdam Airport, o brother did I have an embarrassing experience! I had to go through security again and get my passport stamped right? Well I only had like ten minutes to get from one end of that HUGE airport to the other and I was stuck in line to get a stamp. So I was a little stressed mmkay? haha AND I only had like three hours of sleep in me. So anyway... I get to the front of the line and the guy says something to me and I just stare blankly at him and finally say, "O I only speak english, I'm sorry!" Right about then, he looked at me like I was CRAZY and said, "Honey I just spoke ENGLISH to you!!" haha it was SO embarrassing but he understood because I was SO exhausted!!
Johanna's house is SO cute! Larisa explained it as "a dream" :)
This room (above) is the room I am staying in because Tobias is out of town. It is so bright and happy :)
These doors (above) open to the beach!! Can you imagine?? BEAUTIFUL!!
Some of the guys and Larisa (above)
We played volleyball in the sand for HOURS! It was lots of fun other than I didn't understand what they were saying because the guys refuse to speak english to me. I thought they were making fun of me because they just kept talking and then laughing and I would hear my name every once in a while, but Johanna later explained that they were laughing because they say girls suck at everything and they actually thought I was good at volleyball so they thought it was funny. They were saying things like, "Dang! The American is GOOD!" I feel much better now haha I wasn't so much liking the idea of being here for a month if they were going to just be making fun of me.
I tried driving to the gas station and killed the car AT LEAST 7 times (I hate stick), so Johanna drove to the place where we played volleyball and then her dad drove the car home and just dropped us off. We sat on the handlebars of three of the boys' bikes and they took us a long way. Then we all broke off and walked home. This bridge was on the way home and Johanna said, "Wanna swim??" I want to have as much of an adventure as possible while I'm here so I didn't turn down the offer. Next thing I knew, she took her shirt off and was sitting on the edge of the bridge! haha I didn't think we were gonna jump! I was worried the water wouldn't be deep enough to jump, but she assured me that they do it ALL THE TIME. So I took my shirt off and we both jumped. We did hit the bottom which suprised Johanna, but it wasn't until our whole bodies were in the water and we were ready to push up so it really didn't hurt. How fun! Adventure #25 for the day haha It was a LONG day! (really... more than 24 hours for me)
This is the trail we took to get home. Johanna says she walks it every day on the way home from school. It was BEAUTIFUL!
Wild Rasberries anyone? YUMMY!
Larisa :)
Here is just the beginning of my adventure! I will keep updating!
